Well, hello hello! My name is Jiza (j-eye-zah – long i). I am a photographer currently based in the San Diego area, but we are a military family so “location” is purely subjective in our lives. I specialize in lifestyle photography where you get to play, hang out, and be yourself, as well as maternity and newborn photography! As a mother of 3, I understand how important it is to capture those sweet moments, real emotions and special stories. I strive to catch these through my lens during our time together and as your photographer.
I was an avid photography hobbyist for years; however, in college, I worked as a photography intern at a summer camp, as well as a part-time photographer for a “photo concession provider” (a.k.a the camera people who tell you to stop to take a photo when you are on vacation… in which you later view and/or buy the cheesy photo at a concession stand. Ring a bell?) My photography business officially started in 2013 after I decided to go on and fine tune my digital SLR photography skills under the instruction of professional photographer and author of Digital SLR Photography eLearning Kit For Dummies, Mark Holmes. I feel blessed to be in a career where I can be passionate about both people and creativity! To read more on my philosophy, click here.
In no particular order, I also love my Catholic Christian faith, playing any instrument I can pick up, exploring the outdoors and different cultures, playing board games (especially Scrabble, Taboo and Cranium), and being surrounded by family, friends, books and coffee.
